Tuesday’s Academy of Country Music award nominations provoked some interesting reactions. The Judds are in the running for Top Vocal Duo, an honor they won from 1985 to 1991, before Naomi Judd’s hepatitis forced the duo to break up. They reunited last year for a recording and a tour. “Wow! I’m certainly overwhelmed and laughing at how life is so unpredictable,” said Wynonna Judd when she got the news at a martial arts class. “It once again proves my theory that God does have a sense of humor.” Aaron Tippin, whose “This Kiss” is up for Single Record of the Year, was equally surprised. “Thank you,” Tippin said. “And who says that God doesn’t still perform miracles?” the 36th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards will be broadcast live by CBS, May 9 from the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles.
