Former Sun rockabilly artist Malcolm Yelvington died Wednesday (Feb. 21) in Memphis at age 82 following a bout with prostate cancer. The singer was best known for his 1954 recording of Stick McGhee’s R&B hit “Drinkin’ Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee.” Yelvington’s cover was the first record issued on Sun after Elvis Presley’s first two 45s.
