McBride to Accept Check for Retirement Center

Martina McBride will accept the Opry Trust Fund’s $50,000 check for the Country Music Retirement Center during Saturday’s (June 26) Grand Ole Opry performance. In addition to the check, the Opry Trust Fund has pledged an additional $200,000 donation to the retirement center. A member of the CMRC board of directors, McBride noted, “It is our duty to ensure that the people that came before us and helped establish the country music industry are provided with housing and medical care in their later years if they are in financial need.” The presentation will be televised on CMT when Grand Ole Opry Live is telecast at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Joining McBride to perform are newcomer Rachel Proctor and Country Music Hall of Fame members Bill Anderson and Earl Scruggs. 07/25/03
