Brooks & Dunn Postpone Florida Shows

Brooks & Dunn’s Neon Circus & Wild West Show is scheduled to return to the road Thursday (July 31) in Detroit after Ronnie Dunn’s voice problems caused the cancellation of two weekend shows in Florida. Eight songs into Brooks & Dunn’s Friday night (June 25) set in Atlanta, Dunn finally told the crowd, “I’m sorry. I’ve been to the doctor all day. This has only happened to me three times. …This is the third.” The cancellations included shows Saturday and Sunday in Tampa and West Palm Beach. Dunn’s partner, Kix Brooks, said, “We haven’t had to cancel a show since 1993. Ronnie is very careful about his voice — but you could just tell how much he was hurting. It’s been a bad season for allergies in Nashville, so he’s gonna stay out of town and try to let his sinuses clear and his laryngitis get better so he doesn’t do any real damage.” Dunn acknowledged that he has been battling allergy problems for several weeks. He plans a Wednesday (July 30) visit to the Vanderbilt Voice Clinic in Nashville before heading to Detroit. A crew from CBS-TV’s 48 Hours had already planned to cover the Detroit show for an upcoming feature. The Neon Circus tour also features Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Aaron Lines and Jeff Bates. 07/28/03
