Scorching songstress Jo Dee Messina and ace tunesmith Stephen Allen Davis were recently the guests of honor at a Music Row celebration in Nashville, Tennessee. Hamstein Music Group, a prominent music publishing company, and BMI, a Nashville-based performance rights organization, threw the “who’s-who” bash to honor Messina’s latest No. 1 single, “Stand Beside Me,” which was penned by Davis. Messina explained at the party that the song was almost recorded by her friend Faith Hill, who suggested to her husband Tim McGraw that the song sounded better suited for Messina. McGraw co-produced Messina’s phenomenal I’m Alright album. PLUS! Messina has reportedly taken up songwriting as well. One of her tunes, entitled “Hero,” is being considered as a recording by both LeAnn Rimes and Martina McBride. ALSO! It was only a matter of time before Messina followed in the footsteps of several fellow country artists. Messina heads out to San Francisco, California, later this month to film an episode of CBS’ Nash Bridges, starring Don Johnson. The Messina-featured episode airs April 30th.
