After having recorded a total of seven albums for MCA Records, among countless others throughout his career, country legend George Jones is no longer on the label’s artist roster. “Whatever path George takes, in our hearts, he will always be a member of the MCA family,” a statement from MCA Records says. The 67-year-old entertainer commented that he is not going to retire and plans to look for another label who will give him the support he needs. Having only sold 1.5 million units during his time at MCA is unfortunately a low sales figure according to today’s high-sales standards in country music. Jones has often explained that he blames country radio for not helping him over the past several years in promoting his music.
