With teary eyes and pounding hearts, hundreds of friends, family and fans made their way into Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium to stay farewell to country music’s First Lady Tammy Wynette. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon on April 9th — bringing in such long time music peers and dear friends as Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Randy Travis, the Stamps, Lorrie Morgan, Waylon Jennings and the Oak Ridge Boys. The world mourned her death on Tuesday, after the songstress passed away at her Nashville home on Monday evening due to a blood clot to the lung. The memorial tribute was open to the public, with a private burial ceremony held afterwards at Nashville’s Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Ms. Wynette’s family has asked that donations be made to the late singer’s favorite charities – the Nashville Union Rescue Mission, Elton John’s AIDS Foundation or Sting’s Rain Forest Foundation.
