Brooks, Stuart Get Golden Globe Nominations

Garth Brooks and Marty Stuart have received nominations for Golden Globe awards, presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Brooks and co-writer Jenny Yates compete in the Best Original Song category for "When You Come Back to Me Again," from the Dennis Quaid film Frequency. Also up for Best Original Song are "I've Seen It All" from Dancer in the Dark, written by Bjork, Sjon Sigurdsson and Lars Van Trier; "My Funny Friend and Me" from The Emperor's New Groove, written by David Hartley and Sting; "One in a Million" from Miss Congeniality, written by Steffan Olsson; and "Things Have Changed" from Wonder Boys, written by Bob Dylan. "To be mentioned in the same breath with these artists is an award in itself," Brooks said in a release. "I'm proud for the music. I'm proud for country music, but most of all, I'm proud for the song." A Brooks' spokeswoman told country.com the singer is planning to attend the ceremony, which will be carried live Jan. 21 on NBC. Stuart, Kristin Wilkinson and Larry Paxton are in the running for Best Original Score, for music they composed for the Matt Damon movie All the Pretty Horses. O Brother, Where Art Thou?, another movie with strong Nashville music connections, is up for Best Picture, Musical or Comedy. Its star, George Clooney, is nominated for Best Actor, Musical or Comedy. The O Brother soundtrack features traditional country music by Alison Krauss, Emmylou Harris, John Hartford, Gillian Welch, Ralph Stanley, The Cox Family and others.
