Will Brooks Take On Hollywood?

The Academy of Country Music’s new Artist of the Decade and Entertainer of the Year Garth Brooks has been working on the upcoming film The Lamb, which features the fictional character of struggling rock superstar Chris Gaines. Brooks extended his Los Angeles, California, visit recently to further plan and announce specific details for the movie and its soundtrack. Paramount Pictures, which will release the movie, initiated the idea that Brooks take on the character for an album that will help to support the film’s promotion before it’s 2000 release date. Close to 300 pop, rock and CHR radio programmers were invited to Paramount on May 7 to hear all the details of the project. The event also featured a preview of the album entitled Garth Brooks In the Life of Chris Gaines. The disc is produced by Don Was, who produced the Hope Floats soundtrack, which featured Brooks’ “To Make You Feel My Love” hit. Since the music from the album will be promoted to the rock radio listeners, there are no plans for country radio singles.
