Happy Birthday Hank!

Close to 400 people gathered at the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum recently to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Hank Williams' birth. The event was highlighted by the first meeting of Hank Williams Jr. and Jett Williams. Although the two had communicated by phone in the past it was the first time they had met face to face. The event kicked off last night with Luke Lewis inviting Neal Coty on stage to "start the evening off right with Hank Williams music." Neal sang "Weary Blues From Waiting" with Jr. and Jett standing in the wings. Co-producer of The Complete Hank Williams 10-cd box set, Colin Escott, was on hand and spoke of his involvement with re-issues over the past 15 years and how proud he is of the set. Marty Stuart, who has the largest privately held collection of Williams memorabilia, acknowledged the art exhibit which is now open to the public at the museum and will remain there through the end of October. The night was capped off with Lewis presenting Jr. and Jett with plaques commemorating sales of one million each of Sr's The Very Best Of Hank Williams, Hank Williams 14 Greatest Hits, Hank Williams 40 Greatest Hits and Hank Williams 24 Greatest Hits. After Jett's presentation she introduced Bill Raines who unveiled his 8 foot bronze that he had done of Williams from a photo of him performing "Lovesick Blues" on the Grand Ole Opry in 1946.
