Faith Fares Well in ‘Billboard’ Nominations

Faith Hill received five nods for this year’s Billboard Music Awards, coming in right behind top nominee Carlos Santana, who has six. Hill will compete with pop stars Christina Aguilera, Pink and Britney Spears for Female Artist of the Year. She’ll also vie with Aguilera, Destiny’s Child and Santana in the Hot 100 Singles Artist of the Year category. Hill’s “Breathe” is up for Hot 100 Single of the Year. In country categories, Hill will go up against husband Tim McGraw, the Dixie Chicks and George Strait for Country Artist of the Year, and her multi-platinum album, Breathe, is nominated with the Dixie Chicks’ Fly, McGraw’s A Place in the Sun and Shania Twain’s Come on Over for Country Album. Winners are based on Billboard’s year-end charts, which measure album sales and radio airplay. The show will be broadcast live on Fox Tuesday (Dec. 5) from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The Dixie Chicks and Hill are scheduled to perform.
