Fender Needs Liver Transplant

Grammy-winning singer Freddy Fender, known for hits “Wasted Days and Wasted Nights” and “Before the Next Teardrop Falls,” is in need of a liver transplant. Fender has been diagnosed with hepatitis C, a viral infection of the liver that causes fatigue and, eventually, organ failure. The singer also is experiencing kidney problems and is undergoing dialysis in Corpus Christi, Texas. Fender will continue to perform select dates as he waits for a new organ, his publicist said Sunday (Nov. 19) in a news release.
