BR5-49 has signed with Sony Music imprint Lucky Dog Records, confirms Mike Kraski, a Sony marketing executive. The retro country and rockabilly group rose to prominence at Robert’s Western World, a honky-tonk bar on Nashville’s Lower Broadway and debuted on Arista Nashville in 1996. At Arista the band released an EP and three albums including this year’s Coast to Coast, a live set recorded during their tour with the Brian Setzer Orchestra. Sony hopes to have a new album out next year, Kraski says, but no target date has been set. Kraski spoke Saturday (Nov. 11) at the first meeting of the Americana Music Association, held in Nashville.
