Chicks Say 'Show Me the Money'

On the CBS news magazine 60 Minutes II Tuesday (Oct. 24), Dan Rather asked the Dixie Chicks about the fortunes created by selling 17 million records. "I don't even have a million dollars in the bank," answered lead singer Natalie Maines. Chick Emily Robison also chimed in on the subject, telling Rather the band sees so little of the profits from record sales that the group's record company, Sony Music, must have "remodeled their new office with it." The Chicks' award-winning sophomore album, Fly, has just been certified for 7 million in sales, according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The band's debut album, Wide Open Spaces, has sold 10 million copies, making it the best-selling country debut ever.
