Moorer Signs With Sugar Hill

Singer-songwriter Allison Moorer has signed with Sugar Hill Records and will release her first album for the independent label sometime in 2004. Moorer first gained national attention with “A Soft Place to Fall,” featured in Robert Redford’s 1998 film, The Horse Whisperer. Later that year, MCA Nashville released her debut album, Alabama Song. She followed it up with two more critically-acclaimed albums, The Hardest Part (released in 2000 by MCA) and Miss Fortune (a 2002 project on Universal South Records). In June 2003, Universal South released Show, a live CD and DVD recorded during a live performance at a Nashville club. Sugar Hill general manager Bev Paul said, “Our office is buzzing about adding Allison to our family of artists. We can’t wait to hear what she will do next. She is such an emotional, expressive singer, not to mention an extremely gifted songwriter. She really exemplifies what we strive for at Sugar Hill.” 08/07/03
