Billy Ray Moves On

Reports say Billy Ray Cyrus will likely be the next new artist on Sony Nashville’s roster. Last summer Cyrus parted ways with Mercury Records, where he launched his career in 1992 with “Achy Breaky Heart.” Sony — the home of the Dixie Chicks, Patty Loveless and others — seems to be on a spree, trying to capitalize on established acts who have been let go by other labels. Sony recently signed John Anderson, Travis Tritt and Waylon Jennings.
