Ronald Anton Dies in Fire

Retired BMI executive Ronald Anton, 71, died Wednesday (Oct. 18) in a fire at his Nashville home. His wife, songwriter Dene Anton, was awakened by the early-morning blaze but was unable to reach her husband who was sleeping upstairs. Anton joined BMI’s New York office in 1965 in the legal department before retiring in Los Angeles as vice president of writer/publisher relations in 1988. He was an avid supporter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International and was among the founders of the Tin Pan South songwriters’ festival in 1992.
