Juno Recognizes Country Talent

Shania Twain and Paul Brandt picked up two nominations a piece for this year's Juno Awards, Canada's Grammy equivalent. Twain is up for Best Country Female Artist and Best Songwriter. Brandt is recognized in the Best Country Male Artist and overall Best Male Artist categories. Competing against Twain in the country female field are Terri Clark, Lisa Brokop, Patricia Conroy and Tara Lyn Hart. Rounding out the country male division are Jim Witter, Julian Austin, John Landry and Jamie Warren. Up for Best Country Group or Duo are The Wilkinsons, The Rankins, Prairie Oyster, Farmer's Daughter and Lace. Rootsy artists Jesse Winchester, Bruce Cockburn and Ron Sexsmith also picked up nods. Pop singer Alanis Morissette received the most nominations with five. The Juno Awards will be presented March 11-12, with the dozen most high-profile trophies handed out on the 12th in a televised broadcast from Toronto's SkyDome. The show will be hosted by The Moffatts.
