Parton Signs Off Radio

Dolly Parton is selling the East Tennessee radio station where she first performed as a child, reports the Associated Press. Parton bought Sevierville’s WSEV-AM and its sister FM station in 1991, renaming the FM station WDLY. Parton said she and her business partners have tripled sales and developed the station to be a solid business serving the community but now believe new owners East Tennessee Radio Group “can take the station to the next level since radio is their primary business.” The sale price was not disclosed in the story carried by the AP. The station will change its call letters.
