McGraw Unhappy About Spring Album Release

Speaking to the press backstage after his win as Male Vocalist of the Year at Wednesday’s CMA Awards, Tim McGraw confirmed that an album of new material expected in November has been bumped in favor of a greatest hits package. When asked how he felt about the decision, McGraw admitted his chagrin. “I was expecting a new album, too, at the end of November, and we worked our asses off to get it done,” he said. “But … our record label is putting out an album we weren’t really ready to put out and didn’t think that we wanted to put out. We’re going to work hard to support it, because there’s nothing else you can do, and we’ll have a new album coming out in the spring.” When asked what label the new album would be released on, McGraw replied, “I wish it was on another one, but so far it isn’t.” McGraw signed with Curb Records in 1992 and has released five albums on the imprint.
