Trisha Time

Award-winning vocalist Trisha Yearwood recently surprised retired Georgia juvenile probation officer William Ballie with a $50,000 check in Music City. Presented at a Christmas for Kids fundraiser, the money was an award from the Betty Crocker company for volunteerism. PLUS! The singer will be the recipient of the Nashville Symphony's 1998 Harmony Award for her contributions to Nashville's music culture. She follows such artists as Dolly Parton, Barbara Mandrell, Chet Atkins and Naomi Judd in receiving the honor, which will be presented in December at the Nashville Symphony Ball.
