Tennessee Governor Don Sundquist has declared Saturday, September 18, 1999 as “Carl Perkins Day” in Tennessee. Furthermore, President Clinton’s office has been requested to make it a national proclamation. Organizers of the upcoming International Rockabilly Hall of Fame in Perkins’ hometown of Jackson, Tenn., plan to hold their groundbreaking ceremony that same weekend.
