Dolly Parton ‘Stampede Park’ Goes Down Under

Dolly Parton is planning to build a Dixie Stampede dinner theater on Australia’s Gold Coast, reports Melbourne newspaper The Age. The $60 million Aussie Stampede project would be built at the Neal Shannon Park and include a 12 story, 240-room hotel above the adjacent Transit Centre in Surfers’ Paradise. It would employ 265 people including entertainers from Tennessee and be country-themed, styled along the lines of Parton’s franchises in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; Branson, Mo.; and Myrtle Beach, S.C.
