Country-related music was represented in a number of fields at Canada’s Juno Awards this past weekend. Shania Twain picked up two awards: Best Country Female Artist and overall Best Songwriter. Paul Brandt was named Best Country Male Artist. The Rankins were voted Best Country Group or Duo. Bruce Cockburn’s Breakfast in New Orleans, Dinner in Timbuktu was honored Best Roots and Traditional Album — Solo. Blackie & The Rodeo Kings’ Kings of Love won Best Roots and Traditional Album — Group. This year, the awards, which honor the best in Canadian music, were held over the course of two evenings. Some awards were handed out at a private ceremony on Saturday, while the rest were presented on a nationwide broadcast from Toronto’s SkyDome on Sunday night.
