Old 97’s Dominate Dallas Music Awards

Alternative-country favs The Old 97’s, individually and collectively, won six categories at the Dallas Observer Music Awards. The group was named the city’s best overall act and top country act, and the band’s “Murder (Or a Heart Attack)” won single release of the year. The Old 97’s frontman, Rhett Miller, also won awards for male vocalist of the year and local musician of the year, and he shared the songwriter award with the band’s bassist, Murray Hammond. The show was held Tuesday at the Gypsy Tea Room.
