Dixie Chicks Tour Grosses $61 Million

The North American leg of the Dixie Chicks’ Top of the World tour generated $61 million in ticket sales. Playing to more than 1 million fans during a total of more than 63 performances, the North American dates ended in Canada with a Wednesday (Aug. 13) show in Calgary. Pollstar, one of the companies monitoring the touring industry, lists the Dixie Chicks in third place among the highest-grossing tours so far this year. The trio kept their ticket prices at a much lower level than the two leading tours — the Rolling Stones and the double bill of Elton John and Billy Joel. The Dixie Chicks head to Europe and Australia for shows in September and October. Sellouts are already reported in several cities, including London and Stockholm. 08/14/2003
