Pittsburgh Honors Alabama

The City of Pittsburgh has officially declared Saturday (Aug. 30) as Alabama Day in honor of the band’s final appearance there. Alabama’s farewell tour will stop at the city’s Post-Gazette Pavilion that day. Written at the request of four area radio stations, the proclamation cites the band’s 42 No. 1 country hits, their fundraising work for charity over the past 25 years and the band’s salute to local steelworkers and coal miners in their 1985 hit, “Forty Hour Week.” 08/27/03
