Gospel Music Hall of Fame to Induct the Oak Ridge Boys

It was just announced that The Gospel Music Hall of Fame will induct The Oak Ridge Boys on Oct. 30, 2000. The multi-platinum group, who is widely known for their country music hits, began their career in gospel music. As the longest member of the group, William Lee Golden states “This is such an honor especially since this is my 35th anniversary since first joining the Oaks in 1965. Of all the awards we have received in our career, this has to be one of the greatest honors because gospel music was our first love and gave us a career in music. Even though we expanded into country and pop music in 1976, we have always paid tribute to our gospel roots with a couple of songs in every concert. I thank God of His many blessings throughout my life, including this one.”
