A private funeral service for Johnny Cash will be held Monday (Sept. 15) at noon at First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, Tenn. Although the service at the 1,500-seat sanctuary is closed to the general public, Cash’s friends and business associates will be paying their respects. Musical tributes will be provided by Kris Kristofferson, Sheryl Crow and Emmylou Harris. Kristofferson will join producer Jack Clement and Cash’s longtime manager, Lou Robin, in offering eulogies. Other speakers will include former Vice President Al Gore. Cash died Friday (Sept. 12) following a lengthy illness. A public memorial service is being planned, although no date has been finalized.
