Nelson, Kristofferson, Crow Set for Cash Tribute

Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson and Sheryl Crow will perform Nov. 10 in Nashville during a musical tribute to Johnny Cash. The date of the event at the Ryman Auditorium has been changed from Nov. 12. Other performers will include Cash’s daughter, Rosanne Cash, Jack Clement, Steve Earle, Larry Gatlin and Hank Williams Jr. Others invited — but still unconfirmed to perform — include Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and U2’s Bono. Cash, 71, died Sept. 12 from complications related to diabetes. In announcing the tribute, Cash’s manager, Lou Robin, said, “John Carter, Rosanne and the rest of the family just wanted to give the public closure to their feelings about John’s death. They thought maybe this would be an opportunity for a lot of different entertainers to come and voice their feelings and perform and entertain.” Although tickets to the tribute will be free, the Ryman seats less than 2,400 people. 10/09/03
