Songwriter Phil Thomas will embark on a ride from Nashville to San Antonio on Saturday (Nov. 1) to raise awareness for Down syndrome. Thomas will retrace the path of Davy Crockett, completing his trek at the Alamo on Dec. 21. The ride honors Thomas' grandson Van Warden, an eighth generation Texan with Down syndrome. Thomas' songs appear on classic county albums such as Randy Travis' Storms of Life and George Strait's Pure Country. Van is the son of Texas country star Monte Warden. 10/31/03
