Strait Receives National Award

George Strait received the 2003 National Medal of Arts on Wednesday (Nov. 12) from President George Bush and first lady Laura Bush. The awards were presented to 10 recipients in a ceremony in the Oval Office at the White House. The long-running series, Austin City Limits, was also recognized. Previous recipients include George Jones (2002), Johnny Cash (2001), Eddy Arnold (2000), Doc Watson (1997), Minnie Pearl and Earl Scruggs (1992) and Roy Acuff (1991). 11/13/03
