R.O.P.E.’s Golden Awards

Lifetime Achievements Recognized

A crowd of over 500 attended the Golden R.O.P.E. awards dinner Thursday (Nov. 6) at Nashville’s Gibson Bluegrass Showcase. The annual event recognizes and honors those in the entertainment business for their lifetime achievements.

Mel Tillis, accompanied by his 12-piece band, The Statesiders, was the featured performer of the evening.

The following awards were presented:
Musician — Joe Edwards
Songwriter — Liz Anderson
Media — Johnny ’K’ Koval
Business — Joe Taylor
Entertainer — Willie Nelson

The Mac Wiseman Nightingale Award was presented to Shirley Magaha, widow of Porter Wagoner’s former dancing fiddler Mack Magaha and to George Riddle for his service and care to Bill Carlisle.

Mel Tills received the Don Pierce Golden Eagle award.
