Campbell Apologizes for Drunk Driving Incident

Singer Glen Campbell has issued an apology for his behavior on Monday (Nov. 24) when he was arrested in Phoenix for drunken driving, hit-and-run and alleged assault on a police officer. “Yesterday, I was arrested and put in jail,” Campbell said in a statement released through his Los Angeles-based publicist. “Even at my age, I learned a valuable lesson. I apologize to my wife, my family, my friends and my fans.” Campbell was released early Tuesday (Nov. 25) on $2,000 bail on charges of extreme drunken driving and hit and run. As he was awaiting release, he became angry and kneed a police officer in the thigh and was then arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer. Breath tests revealed a blood-alcohol level of 0.20, according to court documents. Police said they await blood test findings. 11/26/03
