Hall of Fame Wins $214,000 Grant

A $214,000 grant will help the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum preserve its collection of 14,000 acetate and vinyl transcriptions recorded from the 1930s through the 1960s — including several early performances of the Grand Ole Opry when it was broadcast on NBC. The most fragile recordings will be moved to a digital format, while preserving the original artifact. The grant comes from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), and the project will take three years to complete. 12/2/03
