CMA Donates $100,000 to Charities

The Country Music Association has donated $100,000 to charities designated by artists who participated in 2003 Fan Fair as part of the organization’s Cause for Celebration program. Terri Clark helped make Tuesday’s (Dec. 9) announcement at the CMA’s office in Nashville. This year, 220 artists designated donations to 97 charities. Clark and 60 other artists selected the Country Music Retirement Center to make it the largest single recipient of funds from the program. “This isn’t a business where everybody gets rich,” Clark said. “Taking care of our own, of the people who take care of us as we try to chase the dream, in the later years of their life is a pretty wonderful place to be. And being able to do that through Fan Fair is the best news of all.” Since its inception in 2001, the Cause for Celebration program has distributed a total of $300,000 to philanthropic organizations. 12/9/03
