Doug Supernaw Sentenced in Texas

Doug Supernaw, who scored a No. 1 hit in 1993 with “I Don’t Call Him Daddy,” has been handed a 14-day jail sentence after a jury in Brenham, Texas, found him guilty of resisting arrest. Supernaw was also fined $1,500 for the misdemeanor charge stemming from a Sept. 26, 2002 disturbance at a local nightclub. According to the Brenham Banner-Press newspaper, the singer “allegedly berated and then flailed at several officers before being taken into custody.” The same incident resulted in a charge of assault of a peace officer. Supernaw’s trial on the felony count is set for February. 12/11/03
