Dolly Parton Will Host Flame Worthy Awards

Shania Twain Takes Break From International Tour for Live Performance

Superstars Dolly Parton and Shania Twain are confirmed to heat up the CMT 2004 Flame Worthy Video Music Awards.

Parton will host the April 21 show, and Twain is the first performer announced for the event billed as country music's only video music awards -- and country's only fan-voted awards show.

Twain's appearance comes on the heels of launching the final leg of her UP! world tour. She will be touring Europe through the end of March before kicking off her latest North American shows with an April 6 date in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Her Flameworthy appearance is scheduled between an April 19 show in Greenville, S.C., and an April 23 concert in Atlanta.

Twain paid tribute to the Flameworthy host by teaming with Alison Krauss & Union Station to record the Country Music Hall of Fame member's "Coat of Many Colors" for the all-star Just Because I'm a Woman: Songs of Dolly Parton. Others who appeared on the CD include Norah Jones, Melissa Etheridge, Sinead O'Connor, Emmylou Harris, Allison Moorer, Shelby Lynne, Kasey Chambers and newcomer Mindy Smith.

Since scoring her first country hit in the mid-'60s, Parton has written more than 3,000 songs and sold more than 100 million albums worldwide. Through her music and acting roles in films such as Steel Magnolias, Parton has become an international icon.

Tickets for the CMT 2004 Flame Worthy Video Music Awards go on sale Feb. 14 at CMT.com and all Ticketmaster outlets, including ticketmaster.com. Phone orders will be accepted at 615-255-9600.

Taking place in Nashville, the awards show will be telecast live April 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CMT.
