Garth Brooks will return to baseball spring training — this time with the Kansas City Royals to raise awareness for his Teammates for Kids Foundation. In 1999, Brooks enlisted the help of Major League Baseball players to establish the organization to raise money for children’s charities. The organization now includes programs devoted to baseball (Touchem All), hockey (Top Shelf) and football (Touchdown Teammates). Brooks, 42, went to spring training with the San Diego Padres in 1998 and 1999 and with the New York Mets in 2000. The Royals’ training camp takes place near Phoenix.
