Alison Krauss & Union Station will play a benefit concert for bluegrass singer and bandleader Lynn Morris on Thursday (Feb. 5) at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville. The show opens the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music (SPBGMA) convention. Morris — who won the International Bluegrass Music Association’s (IBMA) top female vocalist award in 1996, 1998 and 1999 — suffered a stroke last spring and has since been unable to perform. She is expected to attend the concert. All proceeds will be donated to Morris to help defray her medical bills and to pay for extensive therapy. Opening for Krauss will be performers and songwriters featured on the 2000 album Follow Me Back to the Fold (A Tribute to Women in the Bluegrass World), including Tom T. Hall, Dixie Hall, Mark Newton, Kathy Chiavola, Claire Lynch, Sally Jones, Missy Raines, Kristin Scott, Kim Fox and Sharon and Cheryl White of the Whites.
