Kenny Chesney’s latest album, When the Sun Goes Down, has received double-platinum certification from the RIAA for shipments of 2 million copies. RCA Label Group chairman Joe Galante surprised Chesney and duet partner Uncle Kracker with the plaques Thursday night (March 4) during a private concert aboard the General Jackson riverboat in Nashville. Chesney, Martina McBride and Sara Evans were among those performing at the record company’s show during the Country Radio Seminar. When the Sun Goes Down was declared double platinum just a month after its release. It took two years for Chesney’s previous album, No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems, to achieve similar status.
