Bush, McReynolds Release New Albums

Two prominent bluegrass musicians released new studio albums on Tuesday (April 13). Sam Bush’s King of My World (Sugar Hill) marks the mandolin master’s first solo album in five years. He is slated to appear at numerous bluegrass festivals this year. … Jesse McReynolds, who formed Jim & Jesse with his late brother, offers New Horizons (Pinecastle). John Prine guests on the duet “Paradise.” … In related news, Rounder Records has reissued Doc and Merle Watson’s 1985 album Pickin’ the Blues. With eight additional tracks from their catalog, it is now titled Sittin’ Here Pickin’ the Blues. Other new bluegrass albums include the Larry Stephenson Band’s Clinch Mountain Mystery (Pinecastle) and the compilation Bluegrass Express (Rounder), a collection of bluegrass songs about trains.
