Nelson Cancels Concerts, Schedules Surgery

Willie Nelson has canceled 10 concerts in May and June, including an appearance at Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tenn., to recover from upcoming surgery to relieve pain in his hands and fingers. He is suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome, a condition often caused by repetitive motions. Nelson, 71, was in so much pain during a Saturday (May 8) concert in Las Vegas, he did not finish the show. He is scheduled to return to the road July 1 in Wichita Falls, Texas, and also plans to perform at his 31st annual Fourth of July Picnic at the Fort Worth Stockyards. The Fort Worth show will also feature Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, Ray Price and many others.
