Willie Nelson has agreed to record one of his most famous compositions — “Crazy” — with country music newcomer Carly Goodwin. Grammy-winner Carl Jackson for Dreaming Bear Records is producing Goodwin’s debut album. After hearing Goodwin’s demo version of the Patsy Cline classic, Nelson invited her to perform it with him on his May 2 show at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. The 22-year-old singer first gained attention when a war-related song she co-wrote, “Baby, Come Back Home,” was transformed into an “audio postcard” and spread through the Internet. This led to her performing the song at various military posts, including Fort Campbell, Ky., Fort Polk, La., and Fort Dix, N.J. In April, she did two shows for American troops at the Guantanamo Naval Base in Cuba. Her still-untitled album is due out this summer.
