Kim Richey, Jim Lauderdale Offer New Music

Kim Richey and Jim Lauderdale, two prominent singer-songwriters in Americana music, released new albums Tuesday (May 18). Richey hand-picked her favorite songs from her four studio albums for The Collection (Lost Highway), including "Every River" and "Just My Luck." Two previously unreleased tracks round out the CD. Meanwhile, Lauderdale teamed with Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter to write and record Headed for the Hills (Dualtone). Guests include Emmylou Harris, Buddy Miller, Allison Moorer, Tim O'Brien, Darrell Scott, Bryan Sutton and Gillian Welch. ... Other new indie releases this week include Darden Smith's Circo (Dualtone), Two Dollar Pistol's Hands Up! (Yep Roc) and the compilation Modern Day Troubadors (Nettwerk) featuring tracks by Johnny Cash, Jay Farrar, Sondre Lerche, David Mead and Ron Sexsmith, among others.
