Shaver Completes Late Son’s Album … With His Help

Billy Joe Shaver has completed an album left unfinished by his late son Eddy — with guidance from Eddy himself. “[Producer] Tony Colton and I have had visits and instructions from Eddy to create this album,” the singer-songwriter said. “The album is full of love, talent and dedication with the tracks that Eddy left Tony and me to finish.” Taken from a 1996 recording session in Nashville and another in Waco, Texas, Billy the Kid will arrive Aug. 24 on Compadre Records. Eddy Shaver died from a heroin overdose in 2000.
