Mindy McCready Arrested on Drug Charge

Mindy McCready was arrested Thursday (Aug. 5) and charged with one count of prescription drug fraud, Nashville television station WKRN reports. Police said McCready submitted a fraudulent prescription to a Brentwood, Tenn., pharmacy for oxycontin, an addictive painkiller. Bond was set at $10,000. During her tenure at BNA Records, McCready scored a No. 1 single with “Guys Do It All the Time” in 1996 and charted two other Top 10 singles — “Ten Thousand Angels” and “A Girl’s Gotta Do (What a Girl’s Gotta Do).” She released an album for Capitol Nashville in 2002 but is no longer on the label’s roster.
