CMA Awards Show Hosts to Be Announced Monday

Vince Gill’s successors as host of the CMA Awards show will be revealed Monday (Aug. 30). In January, Gill said he would be taking a break from the hosting duties he has held for an unprecedented 12 consecutive years. Noting that fans and artists have grown accustomed to Gill hosting the telecast, Country Music Association executive director Ed Benson said, “Someone new walking into that position would have some big shoes to fill. So we spent a lot of time discussing options for taking this vital role in a new direction in 2004 that would be comfortable for the artists and exciting and entertaining for the viewers.” The hosts will be identified Monday at the Country Music Hall of Fame after the 2004 CMA nominees are named during a special edition of CMT Insider and on CBS-TV’s The Early Show. CBS will broadcast the 38th annual CMA Awards live from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville on Nov. 9.
