The American Legion honored Dolly Parton with its Good Guy Award on Monday (Aug. 30) in Nashville during the organization’s national convention. Parton was recognized for her charitable work in Sevier County in East Tennessee, where she grew up. Her humanitarian accomplishments include the Dollywood Foundation, the Dolly Parton Wellness and Rehabilitation Center of Sevier County and the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. “It’s a great honor for me to be here today to receive this award,” she told the veterans. “Compared to what you folks have done and are doing, I haven’t done much. I appreciate this more than I can say.” Parton plans to display the plaque in her museum in East Tennessee.
