Alan Jackson led the CMA nominations on Monday morning (Aug. 30), including a song nomination (which honors the songwriter) for “Remember When.” Jackson says, “It’s very fulfilling when somebody likes your songs, or it touches somebody. … I’ve had so many comments like, ‘Oh, my wife cried when she heard that.’ It makes you feel good that people really are affected by it, in a good way or a helpful way. …So it is a very nice part of the business to be able to write songs. You know, I’ve been lucky with it. Performing is a whole other side of it. And that’s the same thing — you walk out there and you get appreciation for your songs or your singing. Songwriting is definitely the most creative part of it.” Jackson is also nominated for entertainer, male vocalist, single, music video (twice) and vocal event.
